A view of the living room. Terrazzo floors (except the bedrooms have
carpeting-new 2006), cable TV, VCR & DVD player.

Another view of the living room, including the front door.

One bedroom has twin beds (both have closets and dressers, plus ceiling
fan/light fixtures). Mattresses and box springs updated December 2008.
Both bedrooms have new carpet 2006. This queen
mattress [pillowtop] and box spring was new
December 2006, plus new interior paint throughout
[touched up as needed since then] the unit 2006.
Bathroom just repainted 7/2007 and notice
grip bars in the shower.

New Kitchen Cabinets and Appliances [yes, an ice maker in the
fridge] - you can eat in (there is a Publix grocery store on the
island, a few more over in Bradenton), or go out to the many
restaurants, most of which have both indoor and outdoor seating.
Very comfortable place, eat-off-the-floor clean! The cottage has
central air conditioning, a private backyard, an outdoor shower
for rinsing off after a visit to the beach. A side door leads from
the kitchen to the backyard.

The laundry room is to the left in the above photo [free washer
and dryer] and a storage area where you will find the wagon
[new 2007] to haul stuff to the beach, as in the umbrellas and
beach chairs. Straight ahead is the Pygmy Palm Tree.
Very pleasant, private backyard with two orange trees and a
mango tree! The Valencia Orange is the "King of Juice Oranges"
- accounting for 1/2 of the entire fruit crop grown in Florida and
it is on Marga's left. It is bigger now after 5 years of growth
and had a good crop in winter 2008 and I am thinking from mid
Mid December to part of February 2010 you will have fresh juice
every morning. The Mango tree is going under the care of Gene
Ciliberti and should have buumper crop come July 4th.
These Kent Mangoes are almost like a peach and the best ever.
I fertilize the fruit trees but do not spray the Orange trees unless the
tree guy sees no other answer.

This vacation can be as relaxing or as active as you would like. Anna
Maria Island is still "Old Florida", with a laid back feel. Casual
atmosphere, artsy touches throughout -- a number of buildings have
murals painted on the walls, many little shops with local flair are
located here.
The beaches are beautiful, and go on for miles. The color of the water is
amazing -- even on cloudy days!
Birdwatching is fun too!
Like to fish? You can fish right from the shore, or from a pier, or reserve
a boat for off shore fishing.
This pelican wanted the fish this guy just caught...he patiently waited ...
...the pelican got the fish...the guy couldn’t resist his "begging puppy eyes."
Enjoy water sports? This island offers it all! If you look close at this picture,
you will notice not only the kid with the body board, but waverunners and
parasailing in the background.
Like to snorkel or scuba dive? That’s available too, with many man-made
reefs close by. The buoys in this photo actually mark where a boat sank
and created an artificial reef -- you can easily reach it from shore!
A typical street on the island -- tropical plants and trees among the homes,
the whole thing surrounded by beautiful beaches!
From the duplex it is 4 1/2 blocks to the Gulf, 5 blocks to the public library,
a cozy theater, shopping, restaurants...everything is in walking distance!
Don’t feel like walking, or want to venture a little farther? Take the free
trolley which runs up and down the length of the island. A 1/2 block to
the trolley if you are going north and 2 1/2 blocks if you are going south.
Be sure to stop in at the Chamber of Commerce (tucked in a strip mall
right where Gulf Drive takes a turn). They have maps, coupons, info on
everything you may want to do!
While there is plenty to do on the island, there is even more with a short
trip to Bradenton or Sarasota...museums, a planetarium, botanical
gardens...and more!
Rent a bike! You can make it a tandem.
The sunsets are famous and people flock to the beach at sunset.
Eat in sleep late take a walk shut off your phone.
The choice is yours!
